Originally sidechairs were so-called for their placement at the side of the room. Thus the chair rail on the wainscott to keep them from "banging" the plaster wall. The chairs were brought forward to the table to use for meals or work, but always returned to the chair rail.
The Bowback is a beautiful, comfortable sidechair that compliments any number of armchairs. This is a popular sidechair ordered as a set of four or six.
